Schools and Communities

Happiness is the Healthy Piano Player!
One of the best parts of my career has been traveling to different parts of Canada and the United States to work with local music communities as a Senior Examiner, Adjudicator, Performer, Guest Lecturer and Public Speaker.
NEWS FLASH! I presented at the USF-PAMA 2018 Conference on June 1-3. My topic was "Diagnosis and Prevention of Injury-Contributing Habits for Pianists."
Here's something for your school or community.
Where Does Your Sound Come From Workshop
Are you a band or choir director constantly talking to your students about sitting position? Do you wish your students would play or sing with a better tone or be able to project more? Would you like your students to look better walking on and off stage? Get to the core of tone production. Discover a common sense approach which will help you sound better, look better and feel better. Julie Husband: “My tone quality was instantly better. I could hold notes longer.” Kim Carter: “The choir could hear and feel the difference.”
Workshop Description
I have designed a fun workshop using simple sports equipment I supply which helps students hear, feel and see the impact of efficient body mechanics. Not only will the students sound better, they will have a much better appreciation for the physical source of tone production. The consequent heightened self-awareness reinforces the connections between body and tone quality.
My Background
Throughout my training as a pianist, I was always complimented for my beautiful tone. Then my students started receiving the same compliments. Hence the question, what is the secret behind a beautiful tone? I have dedicated my career to finding the answer. As a consequence, thanks to the world of science and sport, I have learned a lot not only about tone production but also about musculo-skeletal injury prevention. After all, an injury for a musician is catastrophic. Now it is possible to improve a student's athletic performance at the same time as improving musicianship. I am a member of the Performing Arts Medicine Association.

Big challenge!"
I'm always up for challenges!
